An Olympic rod (more commonly called an Olympic barbell) is the standard barbell used in most commercial gyms and official weightlifting competitions.

Types of Olympic Barbells:
Standard Olympic Barbell: General use for squats, deadlifts, bench press.
Powerlifting Bar: Stiffer with less whip, used for squats, bench, deadlifts.
Olympic Weightlifting Bar: More flexible (more "whip"), designed for clean & jerk/snatch.
EZ Curl Bar (Olympic version): Shorter with curved shape for arm exercises.
Trap Bar (Hex Bar): For deadlifts and shrugs, not a true Olympic bar but often uses Olympic plates.
